For New Patients

Initial Consultation

We will schedule your appointment as promptly as possible. However, if you are in excruciating pain or have a true emergency situation, every attempt will be made to see you the day you call our office.

Your initial appointment will consist of a comprehensive endodontic evaluation (including a routine oral cancer screening) and then a consultation explaining your diagnosis and treatment options. Most of the time, root canal treatment can be done the same day as the consultation appointment. However, if the planned treatment is more involved, such as a complex medical history, a complicated root canal system, or an inconclusive diagnosis, we will often set up a second appointment to provide treatment on another day.

In order to facilitate your care with us and save time, please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:

  • Your referral slip from your dentist and any X-rays.
  • A list of medications you are presently taking.
  • If you have dental insurance, please be prepared to provide:
    • name and phone number of dental insurance company
    • group number, if applicable
    • name and Social Security number of subscriber
    • any other relevant information.

This will allow us to help you process any insurance claims.

IMPORTANT: All patients under the age of 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the consultation visit.

If you have been advised by your physician or dentist to use antibiotic premedication because of a heart murmur, mitral valve prolapse, congenital heart defect, artificial heart valve, prosthetic joint, or rheumatic heart disease, please make sure you are on the appropriate antibiotic on the day of your appointment. If there is a question, please call our office prior to your appointment.

In addition, please alert the office if you have are pregnant or have any other pertinent medical conditions (e.g., diabetes, high blood pressure, hepatitis, tuberculosis, etc.) or if you are on any medication (e.g., birth control pills, heart medications, aspirin, blood thinners, MAO inhibitors, etc.)
